About university

The Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University was established on 18th September 1997 at Ramtek, which is a township in Nagpur district. It was selected because it is connected to the name of great poet of the world Kavikulaguru Kalidas. The University has established five faculties viz.

Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, the only Sanskrit University in the state of Maharashtra is unique in nature and is entirely different from all the existing Sanskrit Universities in academic nature. The other Sanskrit Universities cater for traditional learning in Sanskrit like Veda, Vedanta, Vyakarana, Nyaya, Mimamsa Dharmashastra, Sahitya etc. While Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University has innovative academic programme and syllabus having modern subjects associated with traditional Sanskrit. On one hand, the courses emphasize on modernity and on the other hand they strive to preserve traditionality. Most of the courses of K.K. Sanskrit University are consultancy-oriented. The University has special emphasis on Science and Technology in ancient India as preserved in the Sanskrit texts.

About centre : The Centre for Open and Distance Learning was established by University in 2019 with aim of disseminating knowledge and imparting quality Sanskrit Education through Open and distance learning mode. The centre offers various Post-Graduate, Under- Graduate, Diploma and Certificate programs in emerging areas of traditional and Modern streams with flexible system to cater to the needs of the learners who otherwise can not avail the regular mode education.
