About the Department
The Department of Yogic Science, of Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek was established in the academic year 2000-01. After its establishment, the Department itself started M.A. in Yogshastra in the University campus and Post Graduate Diploma & MSc in Yogic Science, through its affiliated Institutions in the Year 2000. Initially B.A. in Yoga Shastra was started at Mumbai and Chandur Bazar Centers. The University received very good response to the courses from the stakeholders .In order to propagate the essence of various branches of Ancient Indic Shastras like Nyaya,Vedant,Yoga etc , the Dept. has designed various courses like M.A in Yogic Science, P.G Diploma in Yogic Science, B.A. in Yogic Science, MSc in Yogic Science, M.Phil & Ph.D in Yoga, Certification Course in Yoga Therapy, Yoga Deeksha & Yoga Kaushal in past years which has met the social demand also. Yoga students of the Dept. have gone to the society and trained hundreds of people for Yogasanas through these years which is recognized by the society.
The course contents of all Diploma, U.G and P.G & Certification courses are designed carefully so that, it covers all the aspects of YogaShastra. Course contents of these courses are prepared to explore the potentialities of Yoga as a ancient shastra along with the modern developments. The focus on study of the original texts is given by the Department of Yogic Science. Textual Study of original texts and Practicals as well, are the methods of teaching of Yoga Shastra. The Yoga students are trained in the traditional as well as modern way of methods to become efficient yoga teachers in the society. Students of yoga have Participated in various International ,National , State, University & District level Yoga championships & competitions and won many Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals to their credit.
The Department is located in the central part of India, which attracts the aspirants of Yoga from all directions of India. All these courses of Yoga run in the main campus of the University at Ramtek & in Waranga campus of the University at Nagpur also.
Objectives
To Propagate Indian Yogic Philosophy to the masses, in the modern world.
To protect ancient Indian heritage, based on Yogic values.
To make ancient Indian Shastras relevant to the modern society.
To remove the misconceptions regarding Yoga Shastra.
To establish a synthesis between Ancient Yoga and Modern Health Sciences.
To encourage research in the fields of Yoga and other systems of Indian Philosophy in the light of modern research methodology as to be useful to the society.

Objectives
To impart knowledge of modern languages in order to fulfill the objective of Sanskrit University which aims to rejuvenate, cherish and disseminate the universal values, knowledge wisdom and vision presented in Sanskrit Language and literature and establish a progressive synthesis between ancient India and modern scientific thought in harmony of needs of today and tomorrow.
To enable the students to acquire knowledge in the language of their choice and through English as a compulsory language will provide the atmosphere to students to spread the acquired knowledge throughout the world.
To enable student to establish stronger community linkage and increased exposure through the process of interaction with the society at large.
To broaden cognizance of the students about Sanskrit language which stands close to English and many other European Languages both classical and modern. Many English words are related to words and word forms that also exist in Sanskrit. This study elucidates their grammar and etymology.
